Life After NARFA?
So, According to LJ, I was the last to post here in 2008.
it's now March 13'th 2012 and Not a soul has posted anything..

Does NARFA as a entity even still exist?

BIG FUN, NO WHAMMIES! - Megaplex 2007 News - January 2007

Happy New Year from all of us at Megaplex 2007!

ATTENTION! Reservations close on *January 30, 2007*, so get your rooms as soon as possible! Less that a month left to go to get your room at the con rate!

This year, Megaplex 2007 will be held at the Wyndham Jacksonville Riverwalk, in downtown Jacksonville, Florida. The hotel is just off of I-95, on the Southbank of the St. John's River. Full directions can be found on our web site (http://www.ppmp.info).

Reservations at the hotel can be made ON-LINE this year! This method requires a credit card to use. Here's how:

1) Surf to http://www.wyndham.com/hotels/JAXHT/main.wnt .

2) Click on the "Get Rates or Make A Reservation For This Hotel" link, just under the hotel's address.

3) On the next page...
a. Leave "Select A Rate Plan" (Section 1) as "Best Available & Wyndham.com WEBRATES".
b. Enter your arrival and departure dates (Section 2). Remember, Megaplex is March 2-4, 2007.
c. Specify # of Rooms, and folks staying in them (Section 3).
d. Skip past Section 4, unless you're a Wyndham ByRequest member and want the credit.
e. In Section 5, type the following in the "Group Code" blank : 0301886pa
f. Click "Check Availability"

4) The next page shows the rooms available. You should see "Pawpet Live Experiences" as the Rate Plan, and $99/night as the rate for regular rooms. Click on the rate for the room of your choice to continue.

5) On the next page, double-check the selections in Sections 1-4, then fill in Sections 5-8 and click "Confirm Reservation".

If you prefer to reserve by phone, call (904) 396-5100. Be sure to reference group reservation code 0301886pa to get Megaplex's room rate. If you have any questions on the hotel, feel free to contact Randy Fox at mp-facility@pawpet.org.

The Wyndham is a short distance from the Museum of Science and History (MOSH), Friendship Park, and River City Brewing Company, which can easily be reached via the Riverwalk. The hotel is also a stop for the S.S. Marine Taxi service (http://www.jaxwatertaxi.com), which is a convenient way to get to the shops and restaurants at the Jacksonville Landing (http://www.jacksonvillelanding.com). You can also utilize the nearby Skyway service to get to the Landing (http://www.jtaonthemove.com/services/skyway.aspx), or take a pleasant stroll over the Main Street Bridge. For those wanting to stay on the hotel's side of the river, eateries and stores can be found a short walk away in the San Marco shopping district.

We'll have additional information on attractions and amenities on our web site soon, as well as how to get there from Jacksonville International Airport. In the meantime, if you have a question about Florida's First Coast, drop Karl Meyers a line at mp-ceo@pawpet.org. (He lives there, after all! :)

NOW, FOR OUR FEATURE PRESENTA...oops, sorry, last year's theme. :)

Housewarming Party!
We've set the date that we're going to have our housewarming party at the new place. Since it looks like we'll be moving in this weekend, we're giving ourselves a week after that to properly settle in, so we'll have it the weekend after THAT, on --June 10th--.

Anyone who wants to come, just reply here (or get ahold of me elsewhere) with your e-mail and I'll send you an address/directions. We'll be 15-20 mins north of the Cube.

People are welcome to start coming over at 7pm, and since there will obviously be drinking, anyone is free to spend the night. I advise you bring blankets/sleepings bags, etc.. we have HARDWOOD FLOORS! :P Gifts are not expected, but we do ask you bring a few $$ for the KEG we'll have. :D Also if anyone wants to bring food/snacks, feel free. We're not really planning anything else!

Also note: The house is a few blocks from a school, this means cops are usually patrolling around, so no being noisey outside. Other rules; no smoking in the house, and just generally be respectful.. puke in a toilet or outside. :P Also ppl will probably have to pull up on the grass to park, that's fine.

Anthrocon anyone? (modem warning)
Hey, anyone heading over to AC this June? I know I said that FC would be my first con, but I'm helping out a new friend of mine and I'll be taking him down to AC. If anyone is going, it'll be a pleasure to see you there. Not only will I'll be taking Dougal along, but I'll also be suiting up as well. I'm really looking forward to it.

Last week I travelled down to London, Ontario to meet up with a new friend of mine and he gave me the opportunity to try on a fursuit. So he had Baby Scorch ready for me. I really enjoyed it despite the sweat getting into my eyes. Yeah I do tend to sweat a lot, yet I was quite comfortable in the suit. I'll hopefully be heading over to see him again before the con. I can always use the practice.

Dougal Dragon
I'd thought I'd post some links to some of Dougal's photographic moments to give you an idea of what he's like. Unlike other dragon plushies that I have, Dougal's one of the most animated and expressive. However the pictures don't do him justice. He's a much darker shade of red, almost a burgundy, and he's a biggie too. When stretched out he's 4' long from snoot to tail. Overall he's just a big softie.

I'm new here.
Hi, I'm new to the group. I hope you don't mind someone who's from a little further north. Actually more northeast, but slightly west of Toronto. I don't consider myself a furry, but I do like furry art and fursuits. I don't have a fursuit of my own, but I do have a cute dragon puppet named Dougal. I have a thing for dragons too. If I do get a suit, I'd like to get a dragon with a similar likeness of Dougal. As for drawing, my skills aren't all that good. Although I won't be able to hang around as much as I would like to at the moment, I'm hoping that we can all meet and hang at FC next year. I'm really looking forward to it as it will be my first time going to a con. I hope that it'll be a pleasure for all or most of you to get to know me as much as I get to know all or most of you. Dougal will be coming along with me so you'll be able to get to know him too. I've been in contact with sparky_d so he's more familiar with me. At least I hope he is. Maybe just more familiar with Dougal. If anyone wants to chat with me, please feel free. I have Yahoo, AIM and MSN. My IDs for Yahoo and MSN are ledgema and my ID for AIM is ledgema2. Hopefully you'll get to know me and maybe Dougal a little better by the time FC comes around. BTW, please feel free to call me Matthew or Matt. Ledgema is just some user ID that's stuck around with me for some time.

Isolation from a mailing list…
Well, I am not posting this to start a fight with anybody, only as a means of getting delphinios’s attention.

About six weeks ago my computer got hit by a virus, and my own stoopidity, and long story short I had to do a full reinstall. In that same 24 hour period my e-mail (rakune@arkansas.net) that I have had for 4 years was canceled, and deleted. On that e-mail was NARFA and NARFA Cube mailing list; both require approval by the moderator. I know he has been busy, and distracted, but it has been almost 6 weeks sense I first asked. I have now asked 3 times to have my new e-mail approved to both lists.

I need you guys! I talked to my manager at Petco about us and promotiong a few things that we have going on there at the store. She was really excited about the idea and she wants as many people as I can get to show up. Now, I'd like to turn this into a sort of big weekend event and have a bunch of people from off in other states come and help out too.

Here're the details.. the first event would be April 8th and 9th, Pet Adoption Weekend. She wants us to be there that Saturday and Sunday from 11am-4pm. Of course you can take breaks and such. There's the back stockroom and two large bathrooms back there, plenty of space to change. A fridge if you want to bring your own food/drinks, and also a bunch of restaraunts around. This event would involve just plain having fun with the customers, going outside, and even walking up and down the strip mall (of Toys R Us, Barnes and Noble, and Office Max) and lurring people over to the store.

The second event would be Easter weekend. (Ryngs and Rikku you HAVE to be there) Again Sat and Sun (15 and 16th) from 11-4. And we'll probably be doing pictures then too.

If any travelers are interested, PLEASE COME. :) I'm sure someone around the Cube will let you spend a night or two, and we can take one or two here at our place.

I need to know asap who would definately like to make it or are interested. Vicki (my manager) wants to see pics of what suits would be involved so she can start making flyers around them.
